To make disciples of Jesus Christ through active, Christ-centered ministries of love

Altar Guild

The altar guild is responsible for setting the Lord's Table, and preparing the sanctuary for worship.  Their duties are acts of prayer as well as service.

There are three teams who make up the Altar Guild:

  1. Communion Stewards are responsible for preparing the Lord's Table for communion as well as caring for the fair linens used for communion.
  2. Altar Guild volunteers are responsible for making sure that the pulpit scarves are the correct color and as well as servicing the candles in the sanctuary and chapel.
  3. BackTable volunteers provide flowers or seasonally appropriate visuals on the table at the rear entrance as well as in the fellowship hall and narthex.  Here is a guide for anyone interested in volunteering for this visual ministry.

For more information on all the duties of the guild, click on the candles to view, save and/or read the Altar Guild Handbook:

The General Board of Discipleship (GBOD) of the United Methodist Church publishes a planning calendar for those who assist in planning, supporting and conducting worship.  The scriptures from the Revised Common Lectionary as well as the season, special day, parament colors and other information can be found in this calendar.  Many useful worship planning suggestions can be found at the General Board's website www.GBOD.org.
