To make disciples of Jesus Christ through active, Christ-centered ministries of love

Welcome to the TFUMC Music Ministries!

We invite you to become a part of our ministry

by joining one of the choirs listed to the right.

God does not call the equipped,

He equips the called!

We will teach you everything

you need to know to serve as a

worship leader in the music ministry.

I will sing praise to the Lord.  Judges 5:3

Music Ministries

At Thomson First United Methodist, we are blessed to have an active, well supported, and growing music ministries program! On this page you will find information about each of our ensembles that meet. All require some level of commitment, but if you want to sing (or ring!) there is a place for you here at Thomson First. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brian Lustig.

Chancel Choir

This 15-20 member choir serves as the primary worship ensemble for the 11:15 service. We have a weekly Wednesday rehearsal from 7:00-8:15. This year holds exciting opportunities such as the annual Christmas Concert, as well as a concert in Augusta, GA in February. Reading music is suggested, although not necessary!

Several of our choir members participate annually in Music Week at Lake Junaluska, NC, where they do in depth study of worship arts.

 Sonrise Choir

This 5-8 member choir serves as the primary worship ensemble for the 8:30 service. No weekly rehearsal for this group. We mostly sing out of the hymnal. Only your willingness is required!  This choir joins the Chancel, Pathway, and Canterbury Choir for special musical offerings during the church year.

Wesley Ringers Handbell Choir

This ensemble meets weekly on Sunday nights from 6:15-7:45 and plays on one Sunday per month during the school year. Music reading and a light-hearted spirit are required for this ensemble! They are led by our organist, Dale Hesse.

Wesleymen Men's Quartet

The Wesleymen Quartet is a group of men who sing gospel music regularly at churches all over the state of Georgia and for community clubs and local events.  The current members are Bill Howard, Wilson Hemphill, Linton Neal and Mat Neal.  The men donate any money that they receive for performing to The Methodist Children's Home or other ministries in our church and community who are in need.

Sunshine Club Choir

The Sunshine Club choir is a ministry of the Sunshine Club for Senior Adults.  They meet once a month at 12:30 p.m., immediately following the Sunshine Club meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month.  All adults are invited to join this choir!
