Aaron Talbott, Director of Youth Ministries

Aaron Talbott is a native of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania and became the Youth Director of Thomson First UMC in June 2011. Aaron grew up in the United Methodist Church where he served in his local church, as well as at the district and conference levels.  In May, 2010, Aaron received a B.S. in Economics from Grove City College in Grove City Pa. He played four years of varsity football as a Grove City Wolverine.

Aaron has served as a Youth Ministries Intern with the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church in Dover, Delaware from May 2010-May 2011. He has also served as camp counselor, worship leader, and program staff of several summer camps.

Aaron is also the Worship Leader at Café Praise, the contemporary worship service at Thomson First UMC.  He plays guitar, and leads the Café Praise Worship Team.

Aaron married Heather (Neal) Talbott in July of 2015, and they live happily in Thomson with their fur-child, Duke.

“God’s plan for our lives is extraordinarily better than the one that we come up with on our own.  I could have dreamt up extravagant plans about my life, but they would not have come from The Lord.  I believe that God has placed me in Thomson to partner with this congregation to do great things here.  Being here in Thomson is a true “God Thing.”

I am so thankful that The Lord has called me into Youth Ministry.  Arranging the dates between students and Jesus is something that never gets old!"

He is thrilled to serve Thomson First in this capacity, and believes music ministry is his life calling.

Brian also serves as the high school music teacher at Briarwood Academy in Warrenton, where he teaches AP Music Theory and high school choir. Students under his direction have attended the GMEA All-State Chorus, District Honor Chorus, 6th Grade District Honor Chorus, as well as other festivals.

Brian holds a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Georgia, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from Houghton College.

"I love these verses from Psalm 96: 'Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.' Since singing in the Houghton College Choir, I have been deeply in love with sacred [choral] music, and it's ability, with the Holy Spirit, to transform anyone. I pray that, whether you are in an ensemble or in the congregation, you would draw closer to God through the Music Ministries program here."
